1 Month

Wow! One month old..I can't believe our little Prince is already one month old! He is as beautiful as ever and still grips our heartstrings every time we see him. What a fulfilling thing, being a mother.

I have been terribly busy since Julius began learning to eat. I am at the hospital two, sometimes three times a day and it seems that everything else gets neglected. I am having a tough time taking the time to relax. There is just so much that "needs" to be done, although my priorities have changed greatly. Lumuli has to remind me often to rest. I look forward to being able to feed my baby on que, rather than traveling back and forth to and from the hospital.

Along with feeding, Julius has become stronger as he has gotten older. I have been more willing to allow "outsiders" (people other than Lumuli and me) to hold our precious little guy. Mom got to hold Julius for the first time and she has been to the hospital just about every day since then to do the same. I am glad that Julius has Mom around for his life. Art is looking forward to getting Julius out of the hospital so that he can hold him without the limitations of wires and such. It's been over 10 years since the last baby in the family, so it's very exciting for all of us.

Julius had a busy weekend last week. We had a step-sister and her husband come to Boise. They generously feed us a feast for Thanksgiving. They came to see Julius, and just like us, fell in love with him. They have grandchildren of their own, so it came pretty naturally for them!

Dad and Marla also came in to town last weekend to see Julius for the first time since birth. They will be back at Christmas, and by then, we should have Julius home. I am looking forward to that!!!

I gave Julius his first bath and it was so scary. He is still sooo small and seems so fragile. The nurses keep telling me that he is stronger than we think, but that is a hard reality to grasp when I am not around him all the time.

We were told that Julius would possibly be able to come home this weekend, but bottle-feeding has been difficult for our him. Next weekend looks more realistic.

Cyndee,

Thanks for sharing the pictures of Julius! He is so darling. Just keeps getting cuter all the time. I think that is God's way of allowing us to be happy they grow up. It happens so fast. I can't wait to see him in real life too. Take care and hope you will all be home together soon.

Love, Nicol Chandler
